Raisi to arrive in Turkey on Wednesday
TEHRAN- On Wednesday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will pay an official visit to Turkey to talk about measures to strengthen ties.
Heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation, Raisi will leave Tehran for Ankara on Wednesday at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Turkish president will publicly greet his Iranian counterpart, and the two leaders will meet privately.
Raisi and Erdogan will co-chair the 8th meeting of the Iran-Turkey High-Level Cooperation Council and hold a joint news conference.
Additionally, the two presidents intend to take part in a joint gathering of entrepreneurs and traders from their respective nations.
Raisi is scheduled to speak with Iranian nationals who live in Turkey as well.
Following a terrorist incident in the southeast city of Kerman on January 3 that claimed the lives of 94 people and injured 211 more, the president of Iran called off his scheduled trip to Turkey.
Erdogan originally said in November that “President Raisi is coming to us on the 28th of the month” to focus on developing a coordinated response to Israel’s assault of Gaza, but the visit did not take place owing to conflicting schedules of their foreign ministries.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated over the phone with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian on Thursday that his nation is prepared to welcome President Raisi soon, despite the trip being postponed twice due to various circumstances.
Iran and Turkey both vigorously denounce the ongoing Israeli slaughter against the Palestinian people and cast aside the U.S. illegitimate involvement in Syria.
