TEHRAN – Amin Kaviyaninejad seized a silver medal in wrestling in the 2022 Asian Games on Wednesday.

He started the men's Greco-Roman 77Kg with a 9-3 win over South Korea’s Hyeonwoo Kim and then defeated Uzbekistan’s Dilshod Omongeldiyev in quarterfinal and China’s Rui Liu in semifinal.

 Kaviyaninejad was defeated against Kyrgyzstan’s Akzhol Makhmudov in the final bout.

With more than 12,000 competitors from 45 nations and territories, the Asian Games has more participants than the Olympics.

Iran has sent 289 male and female athletes to the Games in 34 sports events.
