2022 Asian Games: Greco-Roman wrestler Sohrabi takes bronze

TEHRAN – Danial Sohrabi of Iran won a bronze medal in wrestling in the 2022 Asian Games on Wednesday.
Sohrabi beat his North Korean rival Yongjin Ro 5-2 in in the men’s Greco-Roman 67kg and also beat South Korea’s Hansu Ryo 9-0 in the quarterfinal.
Sohrabi failed to book his place in the final after losing to Kazakhstan’s Meiirzhan Shermakhanbet.
He defeated Chinese wrestler Lei Li to win the bronze medal.
Sohrabi had defeated wrestlers from North Korea and South Korea and lost to Kazakhstan’s representative in the semifinals.
With more than 12,000 competitors from 45 nations and territories, the Asian Games has more participants than the Olympics.
Iran has sent 289 male and female athletes to the Games in 34 sports events.
