TEHRAN – Iranian Ambassador Alireza Sanei participated in Minsk's international conference on combating illegal immigration on Wednesday.

The high-level event included Belarusian officials such as the Secretary of the Security Council, the chairman of the Border Guard Committee, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as ambassadors, diplomatic representatives, and international organizations based in Minsk.

Discussions centered on the current challenges posed by illegal immigration, exploring strategies for effective countermeasures, and emphasizing the critical need for regional cooperation.

The conference provided a platform for participating nations to share best practices and innovative solutions aimed at addressing the root causes of illegal migration.

Ambassador Sanei's participation in the event could help develop more effective multilateral policies that protect the rights and well-being of migrants while safeguarding national security and stability.

Estimations show Iran is currently hosting around six million refugees.
