TEHRAN - Iranian rowers secured a silver medal on the second day of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China on Monday.

In the women's quadruple sculls at Fuyang Water Sports Centre, Nazanin Malaei, Mahsa Javer, Zeinab Norouzi and Fateme Mojalal came second with a time of 6 minutes and 51.82 seconds.

The gold medal went to China with 6:42.84, while Vietnam finished in third place with 6:54.84.

With more than 12,000 competitors from 45 nations and territories, the 2022 Asian Games has more participants than the Olympics.

Iran has sent 289 male and female athletes to the Games in 34 sports events.
