Yemen will persist in fighting Israel using domestic resources: top Iranian commander
TEHRAN –Yemeni armed forces will keep delivering significant strikes against the Israeli regime using their domestically produced weapons and equipment, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy said on Tuesday.
Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri made the remarks on the sidelines of a ceremony during an interview with Daneshjoo news agency.
Tangsiri condemned what he described as "cowardly assaults by the Zionist regime," which have so far resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent people. "The tragic events occurring in Gaza and Lebanon have made the Resistance Axis more determined than ever," he stated, emphasizing the unity among groups such as Hezbollah in Lebanon, Ansarullah in Yemen, and other Resistance factions in Iraq.
Highlighting the courage and resolve of these groups, Tangsiri noted, "These brave forces stand against these injustices and provide a decisive response to the enemies." He underscored that despite facing relentless aggression, the Resistance Axis is not only surviving but growing stronger. "No matter how much the enemies strike them, they become stronger and more resolute," he affirmed.
In particular, Tangsiri praised Ansarullah’s efforts in Yemen, stating, "This group continues its resistance by producing indigenous weapons without dependence on others."
Resistance forces in the region have been carrying out attacks against Israeli positions in the occupied territories and the Red Sea in support of Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip. Resistance factions say they will continue to target Israel and Israeli assets until the regime puts an end to its genocidal war in the Palestinian enclave, where over 38,000 people have been killed since October 7.
Yemen has particularly grabbed the attention of outside observers as it has managed to deal a heavy blow to the regime’s economy by successfully targeting every Israeli-bound and Israeli-owned ship passing through the Red Sea. The Arab nation also made the headlines this week by flying a drone inside the occupied territories and hitting a building in the heart of Tel Aviv. Analysts are shocked at how the drone managed to travel at least 1700km without getting detected by Israel’s sophisticated defense shield.
