TEHRAN – A senior lawmaker says he has held some 14 hours of private talks with Mehdi Karroubi since he has been put under house arrest.

Speaking with ISNA, Mojtaba Zo’nnouri, who represents Qom in the parliament, said the talks “have not been ineffective”.

Karroubi, Mir Hossein Mousavi and his wife Zahra Rahnavard were placed under house arrest after they insisted on their claims of vote rigging in the 2009 presidential election and called for protests.

Asked whether he planned to hold talks with Mousavi, the parliamentarian said while he does not oppose to talks with Mousavi, he has not taken any action in this regard.
