Documentary “Noqte” on Iranian calligraphy premieres on TV BRICS

TEHRAN- The documentary film "Noqte," which explores the art of Iranian calligraphy, is set to have its world premiere in Russia, presented by the TV BRICS International Media Network. This unveiling marks a significant milestone, as the film will reach audiences across the BRICS+ countries. 

Directed by Amir Valinejad, "Noqte" adds to TV BRICS's diverse library of video content, which features original works from international producers representing Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Argentina, and Venezuela.

The television debut of "Noqte" will take place on TV BRICS on August 12, with a repeat airing scheduled for August 17. The film will also be available in English, Chinese, Spanish, and Portuguese via the TV BRICS online portal.

"Noqte" delves into the rich history and intricate art of Iranian calligraphy, highlighting the importance of the 'noqte' (dot) as a fundamental element. The documentary has already garnered acclaim, winning the XXXII International Film Forum Golden Knight award and being nominated for the XXI National Award Laurel Branch.

Amir Valinejad emphasized the significance of the film, stating, "It introduces viewers to the exquisite genre of fine art that is calligraphy. Iranian calligraphy represents a unique world and a sacred language rooted in the transcribing of the Holy Quran's texts. It has evolved into a cherished art form, influencing various disciplines such as architecture, painting, and miniatures. We are honored that 'Noqte' will premiere on TV BRICS, and we hope it inspires viewers to explore the beauty of Iranian culture."

Produced in 2020 with support from the Ibn Sina Islamic Culture Research Foundation, the film aims to advance knowledge of Islamic culture, science, and philosophy among scholars and students.

TV BRICS is a 24-hour general-themed television channel catering to audiences in BRICS+ countries. It broadcasts in Russian across the Russian Federation through various digital platforms, online services, and social media channels. The channel reaches approximately 12 million subscribers and serves as a key platform for fostering multilateral information exchange among its media partners.
