Iran says world wants ceasefire, resistance groups won’t remain silent
TEHRAN- Iran asserted on Monday that the U.S. and Israel have been forewarned by the resistance groups in the region that they would not stand idly by while the Israeli regime carrying out its atrocities on the Palestinian people in the beleaguered Gaza Strip.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani said during a weekly news conference on Monday that the international community’s growing dissatisfaction with the conflict and desire for its end is seen by the mounting resistance to Israeli crimes in Gaza and the U.S. government’s support of the regime’s wrongdoings.
“The actions of the Zionist regime spark a reaction by the resistance groups in the region. They (the groups) had repeatedly warned the U.S. and the Zionists that if these attacks continue, they will not remain silent,” he said.
“The U.S. and the Zionist regime must understand that they can escape the situation only by stopping the war completely and immediately, allowing the dispatch of humanitarian aid [to the coastal enclave], and ending the forced displacement of the people of Gaza.”
Additionally, the Iranian diplomat asked the U.S. administration to cease supporting Israeli atrocities in Gaza and focus on international security and peace rather than putting pressure on others to take action.
He pointed out that U.S. Congressmen have shown in recent years that they are willing to sacrifice the interests of the American people in favor of the Zionist regime.
“Israel prevents aid from reaching Gaza”
Kanaani also blasted the U.S. for granting Israel “questionable immunity,” adding that this gives the regime the ability to obstruct the delivery of aid to Gaza.
“The Zionist regime has not fulfilled its responsibilities and is preventing the sending of aid to Gaza. The amount of aid that has entered the enclave is like a drop in the ocean. Only 25 to 40 trucks are allowed to pass borders daily, a number which is very little.”
“Anti-Iran claims intended to divert attention away from catastrophic situation in Gaza”
Kanaani dismissed the claims as a “projection” of guilt by Israel to divert attention away from the dire circumstances in Gaza.
“We have repeatedly announced that the resistance groups represent their nations and make decisions and act independently based on the interests of their nations,” he said.
He noted, “This regime cannot accept that it suffered a multi-dimensional defeat from a Palestinian resistance group in Gaza and it seeks to make accusations against others, including the Islamic Republic of Iran. However, it should know that such allegations are invalid and of no use to the regime.”
“Unlike the U.S. that orders its allies what to do and what not to do, Iran has no proxy forces in the region,” Kanaani underlined.
The Israeli regime has been pounding the Gaza Strip since October 7, when Hamas launched a surprise operation outside Gaza. At least 13,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli strikes in the enclave.
Rejecting claims that Iran was behind the Al-Aqsa Storm operation, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei made statements on October 10 that focused on the “irreparable defeat” of the Zionist regime in the epic created by the Palestinian youth.
“They are mistaken. Of course, we support Palestine. We support their fight. We praise the minds and efforts of the resourceful, intelligent designers and the brave youth of Palestine. We are proud of them. This is true. But those who say that non-Palestinians are behind what the Palestinians have done do not know the Palestinian nation. They underestimate the Palestinian nation,” the Leader said.
“IAEA recent stance on Iran is unconstructive”
According to the Foreign Ministry’s spokesman, the UN nuclear agency has taken an unconstructive posture against Iran following the release of a report implying that Tehran has stockpiled enough enriched uranium for nuclear weapons.
“Iran’s peaceful (nuclear) activities are based upon cooperation with the (International Atomic Energy) Agency and conform with the Safeguards (Agreement) and the NPT. This cooperation is in progress,” Kanaani noted.
When asked about the IAEA’s recent report on Iran’s uranium enrichment, the spokesman stated that such issues have been raised for various reasons, and that “Iran regards such attitudes as non-constructive.”
Kanaani added that “there had been no failures in Iran’s performance of its commitments, reaffirming Iran’s commitment to cooperation with the IAEA.”
“In turn, the IAEA is obligated to carry out its mandate. Iran’s relationship with the IAEA remains stable,” he continued.
His remarks followed the release of a classified IAEA assessment on Wednesday, which said that Iran was still hiding from numerous skilled nuclear inspectors and that it has enough uranium enriched to as much as 60% purity—nearly weapons-grade—for three atomic bombs.
Iran’s move to revoke the accreditation of multiple inspectors was denounced by the UN nuclear watchdog on Wednesday, calling it “extreme and unjustified” and stating that it “directly and seriously affected” the agency’s operations.
In September, Iran revoked the accreditation of many inspectors, citing “political abuses” committed by the U.S., France, Germany, and Britain.
In response to a question on imports of Israeli-made products in Iran, the spokesman said, “Based on law, the entry into Iran of goods produced by Zionist firms or companies that have Zionist shares in some way is forbidden. In Iran, people are not interested in using goods of the Zionist regime.”
Kanaani added, the Iranian Foreign Ministry along with other bodies is tasked with assessing the issue that some companies, using unprincipled methods, intend to import Zionist-linked products with or without their names.
