Iran says slaughter in Gaza demonstrates U.S. haughty nature

TEHRAN- The spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry has said that the United States’ steadfast backing of Israel’s “war crimes” in Gaza is a blatant example of its conceit.

In a post on his X account on Saturday, Nasser Kanaani said the 13th day of the Iranian month of Aban is registered as the National Day against the Global Arrogance.

Given Israel’s bombardment of the besieged territory from air, ground and sea over the past 30 consecutive days, it is necessary to turn the day into an international and global event, he said.

The Iranian official added that, with full backing from the U.S. government, the “apartheid Zionist regime” is committing “war crimes and genocide” against the oppressed Palestinian people in Gaza.

He stated that the international community’s call to stop the savage attacks on the helpless people of Gaza and the votes of 120 countries in the UN General Assembly are likewise ignored by the Tel Aviv regime.

According to Kanaani, the illegal actions of Israel, which have received full support from the U.S., demonstrate the haughty attitude of Washington, which has incited enmity among people all over the world.

He also strongly denounced the Tuesday attack by the Israeli regime on the Jabaliya refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the death and injury of hundreds of Palestinians.

“This massacre added another black mark on the already long list of the Zionist regime’ war crimes,” Kanaani said.

The attack on the camp killed or injured at least 400 Palestinians, the majority of them being women and children.

The entire community as a whole, and the UN Security Council in particular, were urged by Kanaani to “act promptly on their international duty to stop the apartheid Zionist regime’s killing machine.”

Since October 7, when Hamas unexpectedly started Operation Al-Aqsa Storm in the occupied territories in reaction to the Israeli regime’s increased atrocities against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, Israel has been bombing Gaza.

It is reported that at least 9,770 Palestinians, including 4,800 children, have been killed in Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip since 7 October.

Israel’s military has bombed the al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, killing more than 30 people, Palestinian officials have said.

The victims of the air raid on Saturday were taken to al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah, the Ministry of Health in the Hamas-run enclave said in a statement.

Palestinian news agency Wafa earlier reported that the bombing killed 51 people, mostly women and children.
