Iran participates in 66th International Belgrade Book Fair

TEHRAN-Iran has participated in the 66th International Belgrade Book Fair, which was inaugurated on October 21 in the Serbian capital.

On the third day of the fair, three new works were unveiled in the presence of Assistant Minister for International Relations and European Integration in the Field of Culture Stanko Blagojević, cultural attaché of Iran Embassy in Belgrade Amir Pourpezeshk, and a number of Iranian and Serbian cultural and literary figures, Mehr reported on Friday.

The unveiled books included the “Noor” magazine as the first comprehensive reference for Iranian tourism in Serbian language, “Selected Poems of Contemporary Iranian Poets after the Islamic Revolution,” and “Simple Iranian Encyclopedia for Young Adults”.

The cultural office of Iran’s embassy in Belgrade, on behalf of the Iran Book and Literature House, has presented over 500 titles on poetry, fiction, religion, philosophy, etc. in Persian, English, and Serbian at the fair.

Under the slogan “Long Live Books”, the 66th International Book Fair is underway with more than 400 exhibitors from 15 countries. France is the guest of honor at this year’s Book Fair.

As a tradition, awards will be presented, including evaluations for publishing production across nine categories.

The 66th International Belgrade Book Fair is a presentation of domestic and foreign book production as well as buying and selling of copyrights.

The fair brings together publishers, booksellers, wholesalers, librarians and authors for their book promotions.

The Book Fair is traditionally a place for the exchange of ideas among all professions gathered around books and publishing. This year, the fair hosts famous authors such as Etgar Keret, João Tordo, Simon Sebag Montefiore, Kate Moss, and many other brilliant authors from Europe and around the world.

The programs also include discussions related to important works by great writers such as Domanović or Kafka.

In the cultural events calendar of Southeast Europe, the central position has been taken for many decades by the International Belgrade Book Fair. This regional largest event devoted to the book carries out promotion of literary creation and education, cultural exchange with foreign countries and the current literary and social matters launching.

Informally famous as the Book Fest, the Book Fair hosts annually the most important local and many international writers and publishers, who feature their old editions and current production.

An important sign of the Book Fair is a plentiful side event program. Through many promotions, presentations, lectures, round table conferences and public discussions, the participants present to the professional and general audience, many topics important for literature, publishing and culture.

The 66th International Belgrade Book Fair will run until Oct 29. Iran was the guest of honor at the 2016 edition of the event.
