TEHRAN – Iranian discus throwers Hossein Rasouli and Ehsan Hadadi claimed a gold and silver medal, respectively in the 2022 Asian Games on Monday.

Rasouli threw 62.04 meters to clinch the gold medal.

His compatriot Hadadi finished in second place with 61.82 meters.

Hadadi had won gold medal in the four previous edition.

And the bronze medal went to Chinese athlete Tuergong Abuduaini with a throw of 61.19 meters.

With more than 12,000 competitors from 45 nations and territories, the Asian Games has more participants than the Olympics.

Iran has sent 289 male and female athletes to the Games in 34 sports events.
