TEHRAN – Iran’s men’s basketball team lost to the Philippines 84-83 in the 2022 Asian Games quarterfinals on Tuesday.

Mohammadsina Vahedi led Iran with 24 points, with Junemar Fajardo  of the Philippines contributing eight rebounds and four assists in addition to his 18 points.

Iran will play South Korea on Wednesday for the 5th-8th place.

With more than 12,000 competitors from 45 nations and territories, the Asian Games has more participants than the Olympics.

Iran has sent 289 male and female athletes to the Games in 34 sports events.
