Third court hearing held in Iran for Ukraine plane incident

TEHRAN - The third court session on the Ukraine plane incident was held on Thursday. The session was attended by the suspects, plaintiffs, the bereaved families and their lawyers.

The court hearing, headed by Judge Ebrahim Mehranfar, was held at Tehran province’s military court.

A Ukrainian passenger plane was downed by the Iranian military on January 8, 2020, shortly after it took off from Tehran on its route to Kiev.  All 176 passengers and crew aboard were killed. The passenger plane was mistaken for an invading missile as it happened 5 days after Iran fired missiles at a U.S. air base in western Iraq in retaliation for the assassination of Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani.
