TEHRAN -- Tehran’s Arg-e Azadi Art and Cultural Complex is introducing provincial tourism attractions at the ongoing Festival of Iranian Noruz Trips.
Over twenty provinces are offering their natural and historical attraction to the visitors, the Persian service of IRNA reported on Friday.
Some travel agencies are also attending the festival to register interested visitors for tours arranged during Noruz (Iranian New Year) to various attractive locations, Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO) official Manuchehr Jahanian said.
He expressed hope that Tehran’s citizens would acquaint themselves with the tourist attractions of the provinces and take trips to these locations during their Noruz vacations.
Participants clad in their traditional costumes are also offering a variety of handicrafts, cookies and souvenirs from their provinces.
The Haft Seen spread is also seen in some of the pavilions. The decoration includes seven items that begin with the Persian letter “seen,” which is pronounced in the same way as “s” in English. They include sib (apple), samanu (a sweet pudding made from wheat seedlings), seer (garlic), sekkeh (coins), sumac (a spice), serkeh (vinegar) and sabzeh (green sprouted seeds).
Live music performances by traditional groups from Gilan, Lorestan and Golestan provinces can also be seen at the festival.
The festival will be running until March 11 at the complex located on Azadi St.and Yadegar-e Emam highway.
