Araqchi warns Israel's growing aggression risks unpredictable outcome

TEHRAN – Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held phone conversations with both his French counterpart, Jean-Noel Barrot, and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, expressing deep concern over Israel's ongoing aggression against Lebanon and Gaza.

During the conversation with Barrot, Araghchi emphasized the need for an immediate end to Israeli attacks on Lebanon and the removal of obstacles imposed by the occupying regime to hinder the delivery of international humanitarian aid to refugees facing dire conditions in the country. He warned against any further Israeli adventurism in the region, highlighting the brutal nature of Tel Aviv's ongoing attacks on both Lebanon and Gaza.

Israel has caused the region to get convulsed with uncontrollable and incessant waves of violence since beginning its latest war in Gaza on October 7, 2023. The regime killed over 42,000 people in the besieged enclave before expanding its deadly military campaign to include Lebanon in the past months. The Lebanese Health Ministry recently reported that the death toll from Israel's ongoing onslaught has reached 2,350.

In his conversation with Guterres, Araghchi issued a stark warning against any unwise actions by Israel against Iran. He underscored that Tehran would respond decisively to any attack, stating: "The Islamic Republic of Iran, while making an all-out effort to safeguard regional peace and security, is fully prepared for a decisive and regret-inducing response to any adventurism by the Zionist regime."

Araghchi stressed that the responsibility for the unpredictable consequences of any escalation in the region would rest with the Israeli regime and its primary supporter, the United States.

He reiterated that Iran's recent missile attack on Israel, dubbed Operation True Promise II, was a direct response to the regime's brutal wars in Palestine and Lebanon, including the assassination of senior Palestinian and Lebanese resistance leaders and an IRGC commander. Iranian authorities have repeatedly made it clear that any retaliatory action by Israel would face an even more devastating response from Iran, he noted.
