Army reaffirms commitment to national defense on 44th anniversary of Iran-Iraq War
TEHRAN – On the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the Iran-Iraq War, the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran has reiterated its dedication to upholding the dignity, resilience, and territorial integrity of the nation.
In a formal statement, the Iranian Army expressed its readiness to make any necessary sacrifices to ensure the stability and honor of the Islamic Republic. The anniversary, which began on September 21, serves as a poignant reminder of the valor displayed by soldiers during the eight-year conflict.
The Army described the Sacred Defense as a pivotal chapter in Iran's history, emphasizing that throughout the war, not a single part of the country was surrendered to enemy forces, who were ultimately compelled to retreat.
The statement also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Iranian Army, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, the Basij volunteer forces, and other national entities in successfully repelling the invasion orchestrated by the Iraqi Baath regime, which received substantial military and political backing from major global powers.
Furthermore, the Army highlighted that the insights gained from the war continue to inform Iran's contemporary defense strategies.
“With the guidance of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and a strong reliance on domestic expertise, the Army asserts its preparedness to confront any future threats to the nation’s sovereignty,” the statement reads.
