IAEA chief Rafael Grossi to visit Iran for key nuclear talks
TEHRAN - Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has announced plans to visit Iran in the near future for crucial discussions on nuclear issues.
The announcement comes after his meeting with Mohammad Eslami, the Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), on Monday.
In a post on the X social media platform, Grossi revealed that the two sides agreed on the importance of continuing their engagement, signaling ongoing dialogue between the IAEA and Iran.
"Agreed with Vice-President and President of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Mohammad Eslami, on the importance of maintaining our engagement," Grossi wrote. "I will be visiting Tehran soon for important political and technical meetings," he added.
Grossi’s upcoming visit is expected to be his first trip to Iran since the inauguration of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. It marks a significant moment in the ongoing international negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program.
The visit is likely to cover a range of political and technical issues, with a focus on maintaining transparency and cooperation between the IAEA and Iran.
