Iranian director highlights cultural exchange at Samara film festival

TEHRAN- The 17th edition of International Film Festival -Salt of the Earth, which is currently underway in the Russian city of Samara, is showcasing significant contributions from Iranian cinema among other BRICS+ countries. 

Amir Valinejad, the Iranian director of the film “Point,” whose film is on screen at the event, emphasized that this festival serves as a valuable platform for audiences to explore the often-overlooked cultural narratives of the BRICS nations.

The festival's comprehensive program features over 70 documentaries by notable Russian directors and their peers from Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Serbia, alongside retrospective screenings celebrating 20th-century cinema. 

Additionally, the festival will unveil a distinctive lineup of non-fiction films hailing from BRICS+ countries, presenting works from Argentina, Brazil, the UAE, India, and Iran. 

The films delve into the diverse narratives reflecting the lives and experiences of the peoples within these nations, spanning themes from technological evolution to cultural heritage.

Since its inception in 2008, the International Film Festival-Salt of the Earth has been dedicated to preserving Russia's spiritual and historical legacy while fostering a deeper international cultural dialogue. The event is organized by the Samara Regional Public Fund “Volga Historical and Cultural Foundation,” aiming to enrich the artistic landscape and promote understanding among diverse cultures.
