The head of Iraq's National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, asserted that both governments and individuals bear the responsibility to oppose the tools and practices that facilitate violence against women.

Speaking at the 16th annual meeting of the "Islamic Day for Opposing Violence Against Women," al-Hakim emphasized that the fight against the cultural and intellectual promotion of misogyny is a collective duty, extending beyond mere administrative and legislative actions.Al-Hakim highlighted the ongoing crises in the region, stating, "These days, the campaigns of violence, torture, displacement, and starvation of civilians in Palestine—encompassing children, women, and men—continue in a brutal war that has violated all red lines, principles, laws, and the sovereignty of other countries, as well as international charters."

He called attention to the Israeli regime's actions against Palestinian children and women, framing the struggle to protect their rights and lands as a fundamental human mission. He urged the global community to raise their voices against the Israeli regime's crimes and work to stop them.The "Islamic Day for Opposing Violence Against Women" is commemorated annually at the beginning of the Safar month, marking the anniversary of the arrival of Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) family in Syria after being taken captive by Yazid I approximately 1,400 years ago following the Battle of Karbala.

The meeting took place at the office of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement in Baghdad, attended by Iraqi officials and guests from various Islamic countries.
