BRICS Youth Conference highlights multilateralism

TEHRAN- The BRICS Youth Conference was held in Ulyanovsk, Russia, from July 21 to 25, bringing together young delegates from BRICS countries and newly joined member states.

The participants reaffirmed the importance of active youth involvement in promoting multilateralism to ensure sustainable development, equitable global security, engagement in trade, investment, innovation, and social participation among member countries.

Russia, hosting the event in Ulyanovsk—a city of about one million people located along the Volga River—emphasized its commitment to combating unilateralism in the new global order. The city demonstrated its dedication by providing comprehensive facilities and support for the conference.

The conference saw the presence of several notable officials, including the UAE Minister of State for Youth Affairs, the CEO of the South African National Youth Development Agency, the Director of Public Policy for Youth in the Brazilian National Youth Secretariat, the Secretary-General of the Brazilian Presidency, the Vice President of the All-China Youth Federation, the Chairperson of the Ethiopian Youth Council, the Indian Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, the Deputy Minister of Sports and Youth of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Deputy Director of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs of the Russian Federation. These leaders accompanied the youth delegates and shared their perspectives on maximizing youth contributions to BRICS objectives, expressing their support for achieving these goals.

During the conference, participants had the opportunity to explore exhibitions related to youth innovation, participate in cultural exchange programs, and engage in interactive workshops and panels. These sessions featured experts, academics, and policymakers from various countries, covering topics such as youth entrepreneurship (highlighting the role of young entrepreneurs in driving economic growth and nurturing entrepreneurial investments), science, technology and innovation (focusing on using technology to address urgent issues), scientific cooperation, and social and volunteer work (discussing best practices in social work, the impact of volunteering on personal and social development, and ways to encourage greater youth participation in these fields).

The outcomes of the conference were defined as follows: Participants expressed a strong commitment to maintaining the progress achieved during the event while looking toward the future. In this context, plans for upcoming activities were discussed, including virtual meetings and collaborative projects, to ensure that the ideas and initiatives presented continue to grow and thrive.

The BRICS Youth Summit was recognized as a remarkable success, bringing together young individuals to chart a path for a brighter and more inclusive future. The insights gained and the connections established throughout this event will undoubtedly contribute to ongoing development and cooperation among BRICS nations.
