Iran, Algeria decry Israeli attacks on Gaza
TEHRAN - In a telephone conversation with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, Iran's acting Foreign Minister Ali Baqeri Kani expressed deep concern over Israel's recent attacks on Gaza, calling for collective action by Islamic countries.
During the Friday call, Baqeri condemned the "savage attacks" on Palestinian refugee tents, describing them as "heinous crimes" committed by a "bloodthirsty regime." He thanked Algeria for its efforts to halt the violence.
Baqeri stressed the urgent need for joint action within the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to stop Israel's crimes and assist Gazans. He proposed an extraordinary OIC meeting, which Attaf welcomed.
Attaf expressed condolences for the recent martyrdom of Iranian officials reaffirming Algeria's commitment to the bilateral agenda agreed upon during Raisi's visit to the Arab country in 2022.
Both ministers acknowledged the disruption of humanitarian aid to Gaza and expressed support for a collective initiative to achieve a ceasefire and alleviate the suffering of Palestinians.
