Iran defense minister expresses confidence in Palestinian Resistance amid tensions
TEHRAN - The Iranian defense minister has asserted that the Palestinian Resistance will persist in its pursuit of goals, undeterred by obstacles posed by Zionist occupiers and their allies.
Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani extended condolences to Ismail Haniyeh, Chief of Hamas' Political Bureau, following the tragic loss of his children in an assault by Zionist forces.
He conveyed sympathies to Ismail Haniyeh and expressed confidence in the Palestinian Resistance, stating, "I am confident that the Palestinian Resistance, driven by unwavering courage and determination, will continue its march toward its objectives, despite obstacles posed by oppressors and their allies."
The Iranian defense minister also acknowledged the sacrifices made by Palestinian martyrs and the valor of Gaza's defenders during months of conflict.
Ashtiani expressed hope that justice will be served upon perpetrators of heinous crimes in the Gaza Strip and that peace and stability will be restored to Palestine and the broader region.
Israel initiated its U.S.-backed military offensive on besieged Gaza on October 7, following the Palestinian Resistance group's Operation Al-Aqsa Storm in retaliation for intensified Israeli atrocities against Palestinians. The ongoing aggression has resulted in the death of at least 33,634 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, with 76,214 others injured, according to the latest statistics from the Gaza health ministry.
The conflict has resulted in 85% of Gaza's residents being internally displaced, facing severe scarcities of essential resources like food, clean water, and medicine, as the majority of the region's infrastructure lies in ruins.
