39th Fajr International Music Festival concludes

TEHRAN-The 39th Fajr International Music Festival (FIMF) concluded on Saturday night, awarding winners of various categories.

At the closing ceremony, held at Vahdat Hall in Tehran, three veteran musicians were honored, Honaronline reported.

Kamancheh virtuoso and composer Darvish Reza Monazami, 84; master of violin and santur and composer Fazlollah Tavakol, 81; and composer and conductor Homayoun Rahimian, 69, were the three Iranian artists who were commemorated at the event.

The 39th edition of FIMF was held from February 12 to 17 in Tehran and 14 other provinces. Organized by the Music Office of the Deputy for Artistic Affairs of Iran's Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the festival encompassed various sections such as the competitive (Barbad Award), non-competitive, and research sessions.

Seven venues in Tehran hosted more than 70 performances including pop, folk, traditional, and international music, and over 330 stage performances  were held in other provinces.

Musicians and bands from the Netherlands, Germany, India, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan performed during the festival.

Organized by the Music Office of the Deputy for Artistic Affairs of Iran's Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the festival encompasses various sections such as the competitive (Barbad Award), non-competitive, and research sessions.
