Shutdown of anti-Iranian channel reveals failed mission to whitewash Pahlavi regime: Spox

TEHRAN – Iranian government spokesperson Ali Bahadori Jahromi has declared that the closure of the UK-based anti-Iranian TV channel signifies the failure of its mission to whitewash the Pahlavi regime.

Bahadori Jahromi disclosed that, spanning 14 years, Manoto TV aimed to present a traitorous and fugitive dictator in a sympathetic light, all under the guise of entertainment.

Manoto TV, a longstanding player in Iran's media landscape, has been a source of controversy due to its alignment with anti-Iran sentiments. Accused of propagandist inclinations and aligning with monarchists, this media outlet has faced substantial criticism for its productions. Manoto was launched in 2010 and stopped working in mid-November 2023.

Having operated for over 14 years, Manoto TV attempted to propagate news against the Iranian government, serving as a mouthpiece for particular political and religious groups who are mostly funded by foreign spy agencies. Numerous reports have suggested Israel as the funding source for this TV channel, attributing the shutdown to limited funding following the regime’s repeated failures after its costly war on Gaza.
