Regional developments bring Iran and Egypt closer together

January 3, 2024 - 23:42

TEHRAN - In a note, Arman-e-Melli discussed the re-establishment of relations between Iran and Egypt and wrote: Tehran and Cairo have been trying to restore their relations for about a year.

It seems that putting Iran and Egypt together can make the current challenges facing the Islamic world, including the Palestinian issue and security in the region, never turn into a crisis. According to Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh, an expert on international relations, there have been developments in the region, and these developments, along with the plans of various countries for the development of the region, have led the Muslim countries of West Asia to move towards joint cooperation with each other. In a way that different countries in the region came closer together and Iran and Egypt are not exempted in this case. The evidence shows that both people and intellectuals in Iran and Egypt have been in favor of restoring relations, but during the past few decades, the efforts of the people and intellectuals did not reach the counsel of the politicians, but now it seems that following the developments in the region, the opinions of these two groups in Iran and Egypt to get closer to each other so that the parties continue to try to restore relations.

Shargh: A commander whose name is connected with Quds

In an analysis, Shargh addressed the fourth anniversary of the martyrdom of General Soleimani. It wrote: The American helicopter attack that led to the martyrdom of General Soleimani and his friends was carried out on the direct order of the President of the United States. The assassination, according to the American media, did not lead to the realization of America's strategic goals in the region, and the fear of Iran's revenge against the perpetrators of the incident is still felt in America. Of course, America and Trump did not achieve their goals in carrying out this assassination; because the New York Times admitted in a report that after the martyrdom of Qassem Soleimani, the U.S. failed to achieve the strategic goals that Trump wanted to attain. Anyway, after four years amid the Gaza war, we are still witnessing the role of martyr Soleimani during his lifetime in the region, and it is possible to call martyr Soleimani a Mujahid commander, and Quds Sharif is known by his name today. Undoubtedly, one of the important aspects of the character of martyr Soleimani is the effectiveness of this mujahid martyr in the resistance front and especially in the occupied territories.

Ham Mihan: Two-sided diplomacy

In a commentary, Ham Mihan discussed Iran-Russia relations and Russia's positions in West Asia and wrote: The war in Ukraine has fundamentally changed the relations between Russia and Iran. Many in the West believe that the boosted participation between Iran and Russia has changed the balance of power in the region. But Russia's position towards the three islands of Iran raises the question of whether Russia is against Iran and on the side of the UAE. According to the Atlantic Council, Russia, which is under punitive international sanctions, hopes to increase its exports and investments from the UAE and other GCC countries; something that Iran cannot offer due to its economic problems that have been intensified by Western sanctions. Moscow is well aware that Iran will not enter into negotiations with the UAE, let alone allow the International Court of Justice to judge their dispute. The joint statement by Russia and the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council does not change the fact that Iran is still in control of these three islands.
