Martin Crimp’s play at IAF’s Entezami Hall
TEHRAN-The play “When We Have Sufficiently Tortured Each Other” written by the British playwright Martin Crimp and directed by Mojtaba Jeddi is on stage at Entezami Hall of the Iranian Artists Forum.
Written in 2019, the play breaks through the surface of contemporary debate to explore the messy, often violent nature of desire and the fluid, complicated roles that men and women play. Using Samuel Richardson's novel “Pamela” as a provocation, six characters act out a dangerous game of domination and resistance.
Pouria Shakibaie, Nazanin Hashamdar, Parisa Hashempour, Parivash Haji-Qadiri, Nika Zarani, Matin Makhtoumi, and Alireza Lotfizadeh are in the cast.
The works of Martin Crimp, 67, have successfully received numerous productions abroad. In Germany, he is considered to be one of the most respected British playwrights. In 2021, Crimp was the recipient of Germany’s Nyssen-Bansemer Theater Prize in recognition of the importance of his body of work.
“When We Have Sufficiently Tortured Each Other” will remain until January 10, 2024, at the Iranian Artists Forum, situated at Artists Park on North Mousavi Street, Taleqani Street.
