Video verified by Al Jazeera shows dozens of protesters confronting the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken as his car leaves his house in Washington.

The protesters, waving Palestinian flags and wearing keffiyehs, demanded an end to US military aid to Israel and a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.

Meanwhile, world diplomats were addressing the UN Security Council, with the envoy of veto-wielding U.S. saying his country does not a support ceasefire call.

UN chief Antonio Guterres, who invoked Article 99, called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire during his own speech at the 15-member body.
