U.S. complicit in Israeli atrocities in Gaza, Raisi says

TEHRAN- Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has noted that the United States has no right to participate in any decision-making process for the Palestinians in the besieged region since it is a partner in the Israeli regime’s crimes against the people of Gaza.

The Iranian president made the comment during a phone conversation with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on Sunday.

During the conversation, Raisi stressed that “the U.S. is the killer of the people of Gaza and any intervention by Americans in determining the future course of developments in the Palestinian territory would mean continuation of this country’s crimes against Palestinians.”

Noting that Americans have no credibility in the eyes of other countries since they are complicit in “the Zionist regime’s horrendous crimes and massacre of the oppressed people of Gaza,” Iran’s president remarked.

“Americans have no right to intervene in any decision-making process for the people of Gaza and any step they take in this regard is doomed to fail,” Raisi said.

He went on to add, “The people of Gaza must have the right to make decisions about the future of Gaza through Hamas as the legitimate and legal government of this territory, which has been elected through people’s votes.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian president referred to the country’s relations with Turkey as “friendly, historical, and based on good neighborliness as well as religious values and common interests of the two nations.”

Raisi further emphasized the need of strengthening the two nations’ collaboration and connections in different political, economic, and cultural spheres, saying Tehran-Ankara relations could function as a “model of interaction” among Muslim countries.

Erdogan, for his part, hailed bilateral relations as “favorable and constructive,” pushing for them to be elevated to a “premium and exceptional level.”

The Turkish president also stated that Ankara is willing to host a meeting of the two nations’ Supreme Economic Cooperation Council.

On November 10, on the sidelines of the 16th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Raisi made a call with Erdogan, urging Muslim countries around the world to refrain from engaging with Israel and sever all diplomatic ties with the regime in response to its relentless killing of civilians in the Gaza Strip.

During the meeting, the Iranian president said, “The cessation of economic and political ties with the Israeli regime can act as an effective tool to stop the genocide of Palestinian people.”

He stressed that the issue of Palestine and the Zionist regime’s crimes in Gaza is the biggest problem the Islamic world is facing today.

Raisi said it is important for all regional countries, including Iran, Turkey, and Egypt, to address the situation in a timely manner and work towards upholding the rights of defenseless Palestinians who are being callously killed in the face of the international community’s silence.

“My assessment is that if the emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Saudi Arabia does not lead to helping the Palestinian people and their salvation, the scope of conflicts in the region will increase because the people of the region realize that Islamic governments are incapable of helping the people of Palestine and Gaza,” the president warned while stressing that Islamic countries should take a cohesive action against Israel.

He also addressed the slow trickle of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

The Hamas resistance movement was elected by the people of Gaza to form the government through a popular vote in 2006, which was held a year after the Israeli regime was forced to withdraw from the enclave.

Some American officials have stated that the land shouldn’t be administered by the movement given the regime’s recent destructive war on Gaza.

With the resolute military and political backing of the United States, Israel launched its most recent attack against Gaza, resulting in the death of around 15,000 Palestinians.
