America seeking economic collapse in Iran: minister
TEHRAN- Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi has said the U.S. is pursuing the goal of bringing about a total economic collapse in Iran.
Referring to enemies’ plots to undercut Iran’s economy, the minister said on Friday that the Americans are pursuing a policy aimed at causing economic instability in Iran.
Speaking at a meeting of government and private sector officials held in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, Ahmad Vahidi stated that it is on the agenda to overcome economic obstacles facing the country.
During the meeting, the interior minister pointed to cruel sanctions, stressing “We should stand on our own feet and resist the economic pressure.”
Vahidi added that choosing the year’s slogan with economic themes on the part of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution shows that we have progressed.
He also announced that Iran enjoys the status of being the 19th largest economy in the world.
The U.S. has given up the idea of attacking Iran because it is not able to defend itself against the Islamic Republic, according to the minister.
He further described “hope” as the most essential necessity in society.
Vahidi pointed to a large amount of liquid funds available to Iranian banks, and said, “The capabilities of the private sector are of top importance for investment.”
The minister further underlined the importance of using foreign financial resources.
He considered “localization” as an important factor in employment, adding that the province’s development document should be based on the existing capacities.
Vahidi emphasized that water, picturesque scenery, nature, and hospitable people are the potentials of the province, which can accelerate the region's progress.
According to the minister, finding ways to activate the potential of the province is “absolutely necessary.”
The minister also addressed the issue of the upcoming parliamentary elections slated for March.
Speaking to reporters, the minister said, “We will have good election contests.”
According to Vahidi, the election process is being carried out based on legal processes.
