Iran, Tajikistan sign MoU on cinematic cooperation
TEHRAN-Iran and Tajikistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of cinema on Tuesday.
The agreement was inked between the head of Iran Cinema Organization Mohammad Khazaei and director of government organization Tajik Film Mahmadsaid Shohiyon in the capital city Dushanbe, ILNA reported on Tuesday.
Screening of cinematographic works, conducting joint productions, exchanging experiences and technical knowledge, and participating in cinematic events are among the topics the two sides agreed in the cooperation document.
“In the past two years, we have made effort to expand our collaboration with the neighboring countries and those in the region, with which we share similarities in history, culture, tradition, and language; as I believe further cultural-cinematic cooperation will bring about good results,” khazaei said.
For his part, Shohiyon said: “Iran is a big country with ancient civilization. Its cinema is a prestigious one in the world. This collaboration can surely help with the development of movie industry in both countries”.
In the past years, Iran has provided certain support to redevelop Tajikistan film production. Meanwhile, some of the Tajik directors have worked in cooperation with Iranian companies.
