Zanjan hosts 2nd International Pantomime Festival
TEHRAN-The 2nd International Pantomime Festival will be held in Zanjan from October 9 to 12 with 25 performances and four workshops.
The event comprises three sections of stage performances, street performances, and dynamic experiences. Along with the works from Iran, five performances from Italy, Japan, Tunisia, Turkey, and Pakistan will compete in different section, ISNA reported.
Marko Stojanović, the head of the World Mime Organization (WMO), has traveled to Iran to participate in the event. Before his trip, he met with Amir Pourpezeshk, Cultural attaché of Iran Embassy in Belgrade, Serbia, on Friday and announced his readiness to hold training workshops in Iran in order to exchange experiences and views.
“As Iran has joined BRICS and since the world center of pantomime has been moved from Paris to Shanghai, China, countries like China and the UAE as BRICS members cooperate with Serbia in the field of pantomime. So, it is possible to plan more international pantomime festivals among BRICS member countries,” Stojanović said.
During the 4-day festival, the Dramatic Arts Center of Iran is to be granted the membership of the World Mime Organization.
This membership is a significant step for Iran's performing arts community as it provides an opportunity to collaborate and connect with the worldwide mime community.
The WMO is an international organization that focuses on promoting mime as an art form and supporting mime artists worldwide. Founded in 2011, the WMO has been holding both specialized mime conferences and combined conferences of mime and other performing arts.
The WMO conducts regular teaching workshops and master classes for mime enthusiasts every year with the participation of theater centers around the world. It also collaborates with various theater centers around the world to promote the art of mime and other performing arts.
The organization has members from four continents, with its headquarters located in the Serbian capital city of Belgrade.
