“Bonnie and Clyde” to be shown at IAF cinematheque
TEHRAN-The cinematheque of the Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) in Tehran will screen Arthur Penn’s “Bonnie and Clyde” on September 22.
It will be the fourth program in the series of Cinema Memories, which is dedicated to the screening of memorable movies during the cinema history of the world, Mehr reported.
A 1967 American biographical neo-noir crime film, it stars Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway as the title characters Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker.
The story revolves around bored waitress Bonnie Parker who falls in love with an ex-con named Clyde Barrow and together they start a violent crime spree through the country, stealing cars and robbing banks.
“Bonnie and Clyde” is considered one of the first films of the New Hollywood era and a landmark picture. It received Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress (Estelle Parsons) and Best Cinematography (Burnett Guffey).
It was ranked 27th on the American Film Institute's 1998 list of the 100 greatest American films of all time and 42nd on its 2007 list.
The Persian-dubbed version of the 111-minute film is scheduled to be shown 5 p.m. on Friday at the Nasseri Hall of the IAF, situated at Artists Park on North Mousavi Street, Taleqani Street.
