TEHRAN – Olympic gold medalist Hossein Tavakkoli has been named as new coach of Iran’s Para Powerlifting team.

“Tavakkoli will help our powerlifters for the 2020 Tokyo. He has worked in several countries and had been Iran weightlifting coach and can help our para athletes in the international events,” Babak Mohammadi, head of Iran's Para Powerlifting Association, said.

Iran’s Para Powerlifting has a chance of winning medals in the Paralympics.

Iran won four gold medals, one silver and one bronze at the London 2012 Paralympic Games and claimed two gold medals and one bronze in the Rio 2016.
