January 17, 2018 - 19:55

TEHRAN – Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said on Wednesday that dialogue is the best tool to bridge the gap between Muslim countries in the region.

He made the remarks in a meeting with his Lebanese counterpart Nabih Berri who had participated in the Parliamentary Union of the OIC members (PUIC) conference in Tehran.

Larijani said Leader of the Islamic Revolution in his recent remarks underlined the importance of unity between Islamic countries in the fight against the plots masterminded by hegemonic powers which requires vigilance and unity of Islamic countries, IRNA reported.

“Restoration of peace and stability are among our aspirations and we hope the existing problems will be resolved through political means,” he said.

Berri, for his part, said parliaments can play a more active role in resolving the current disputes and divisions.

Officials at Islamic countries should exercise rationality to prevent sowing the seed of discord among religious sects, the Lebanese parliament speaker suggested.
