TEHRAN – The head of Iran’s Expediency Council Center for Strategic Research on Wednesday told a visiting Iraqi Kurdistan politician that Tehran only supports a unified Iraq.
“Dividing Iraq into Shia, Sunni, and Kurd regions is against the policies of the Iraqi government,” Ali Akbar Velayati told Salaheddin Bahauddin, secretary general of the Iraqi Kurdistan Islamic Union Party, IRNA reported.
He also said, “We sincerely ask regional countries to stop interfering in the affairs of Iraq and let Iraq continue its job without intervention and with full unity among officials and people.”
