TEHRAN – An MIT mechanical engineering student from Iran is among those barred from the United States following President Donald Trump’s travel ban.

Niki Mossafer Rahmati’s case caused an outcry from the MIT community and thrust the woman into a fiery national debate, Boston Globe reported on Wednesday.

A junior, Niki has a multiple entry student visa. She had been trying to return to MIT after winter break but was blocked from boarding her connecting flight from Qatar.
