8-month exports of electricals up 20% on year

TEHRAN – Iran’s eight-month value of electrical products exports rose by 20 percent year-on-year, IRNA reported on Friday.

According to the Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) of Iran, the country has exported some 24,400 tons of electrical goods valued about $200.7 million during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (ended on November 20).

Despite the rise in the value, the volume of exports in this group of commodities which includes all sorts of wires and cables, switchgears and industrial electrical equipment, telecommunication equipment, and all kinds of chandeliers, lamps and lighting covers, fell by 24.9 percent in the mentioned time span.

Meanwhile, some $2.1 million worth of chandeliers, lamps and decorative lights were exported during said time which indicates a 25 percent decline in terms of volume and also a 48 percent value fall compared to the last year’s first eight months.

Iraq, UAE, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan and Armenia were among the main export destinations for these commodity groups.

Iraq topped the importers’ list with $210,000 worth of purchases followed by Afghanistan which imported some $180,000 worth of such goods.

The country has also exported some $8.7 million worth of telecommunications electrical equipment to different countries including Uganda, Iraq, China, Afghanistan and Indonesia.
