TEHRAN The Iranian people broke their fast at the fasting month of Ramazan yesterday evening coinciding with the Yalda night (the night before the first day of winter and the longest night of the year according to Iranian tradition). Yalda night or Shab-e Chelleh is the reminder of sweet memories for Iranians from their grandmothers and grandfathers who gather the youth and the children and tell them stories of the ancient times.
This year, Yalda night was celebrated with the recitation of Holy Qoran at Eftar (fast breaking time). The people from all walks of life gathered till late night and eat fruits, nuts and candies.
