President Raisi meets pupils’ union

TEHRAN — Representatives of pupils’ unions met President Ebrahim Raisi on Wednesday. The pupils expressed their views on the educational system and political and cultural issues in the country. The meeting took place on the eve of Nov. 4, a date marking the seizure of the U.S. embassy in Tehran in 1980. Nov. 4 is known as Pupil Day.

Iran car museum inaugurated

TEHRAN – The car museum of Iran was inaugurated on Saturday, October 23. A collection of 61 unique classical and historical vehicles dating back to Qajar (1789-1925) and Pahlavi (1925-1979) dynasties are on show at the museum on the Tehran-Karaj old road. Some 1.2 trillion rials (around $28 million) has been invested to build the museum measuring 11,000 square meters in area.

Arbaeen draws crowds to Karbala

Hundreds of thousands of black-clad Muslim pilgrims thronged to the revered shrine city of Karbala in Iraq on Tuesday to observe a major religious ritual. The annual pilgrimage, known as Arbaeen, marks the end of a 40-day mourning period for the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed (S), in the seventh century. At the time, Imam Hussein had revolted against the Damascus-based second Umayyad caliph, Yazid bin Muawiyah, moving from Madinah to outside Karbala in modern-day Iraq, where a battle took place.
