Quake Rocks Southern Shiraz

TEHRAN -- An earthquake measuring 3.2 degrees on the open ended Richter scale rocked Shiraz, Fars Province, Tuesday night. No damage or casualties have been reported.

According to the Seismological Base of Shiraz, affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the earthquake hit the city at 23:24 local time (1854 GMT) with its epicenter 20 kilometers south of Shiraz.

The quake was accompanied by a tremendous sound, sparking panic among residents who spilled over to the streets.
