TEHRAN – The Iranian Defense Minister has described Washington’s recent provision of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system to Israel as a component of psychological warfare against Iran and the rest of the Axis of Resistance.

Brigadier General Aziz Nasir Zadeh emphasized that the introduction of THAAD is not a novel or game-changing development, but rather a continuation of Israel's long-standing and unsuccessful efforts to intimidate Iran. He pointed out that the Israeli regime has consistently posed military threats to Iran.

The THAAD system is a sophisticated, mobile missile defense system designed to intercept and destroy short, medium, and intermediate-range ballistic missiles during their terminal flight phase. Created by the United States, THAAD is an integral part of the nation's Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) and is said to play a crucial role in safeguarding against potential missile threats. The system comprises a radar system, interceptor missiles, and a fire control and communications unit.

Last week, Hebrew media reported that the THAAD defense system, accompanied by 100 American military personnel, will be deployed in Israel as of October 15.
