Israel’s crimes won’t go unpunished: Iranian president
TEHRAN – President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran asserted on Sunday afternoon that Israel’s crimes are unacceptable and “will not go unpunished”.
The remarks by the Iranian president came one day after Hezbollah officially confirmed that its leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah had been martyred in the Israeli massive airstrikes on the suburbs of Beirut late on Friday.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the attack on the Hezbollah leaders from New York, where he was addressing the annual UN General Assembly.
The president said even though a response to such “professional criminals” is imperative history has shown that liberation movements will not die down with the assassination of individuals and instead tens of other persons will rise to continue their path against oppression and defend justice.
Pezeshkian added the assassination of the Hezbollah leader once again proved that Israel doesn’t honor international rules and regulations.
He also pointed to the Israeli assassination of the Hamas political bureau chief in northern Tehran on July 31, saying the American and European leaders requested Iran not to retaliate by promising that they were pushing for a ceasefire in the Israeli war on Gaza but they were lying.
“Claims by the leaders of the U.S. and European countries who were promising ceasefire in exchange for Iran not to respond to the assassination of Haniyeh were all lies,” Pezeshkian pointed out.
The president said that not responding to such offenses would only encourage the Zionist regime’s leader to commit more crimes.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution said on Saturday that “It is an obligation for all Muslims to stand with the people of Lebanon and the honorable Hezbollah, offering their resources and assistance as Hezbollah confronts the usurping, cruel, malicious [Zionist] regime.”
In his Sunday remarks, Pezeshkian said Arab and Muslim countries bear a great responsibility to withstand the Zionist regime’s “savagery”.
“Muslim countries should not be indifferent to the crimes of this regime because it has been proven to the entire people of the world that who is the source of war, insecurity and homicide,” the president remarked.
