Iran, Qatar security officials hold talks to boost border cooperation
TEHRAN- Senior border officials from Iran and Qatar have engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing border cooperation between their nations.
As reported by IRNA, Brigadier General Ahmad-Ali Goudarzi, the commander of the Iranian Border Guard, is currently visiting Doha to participate in a joint meeting focused on coastal and border security.
During his visit, Goudarzi met with Major General Nasser Jabor Al Naimi, the director-general of Coasts and Borders Security at the Qatari Ministry of Interior, on Thursday.
The Iranian commander emphasized the importance of collaborative maritime patrols and the need to combat smuggling and unauthorized crossings and pointed out, “Achieving sustainable security and protecting the borders are among Iran's primary objectives.”
Goudarzi noted that there has been considerable progress in implementing the agreements established during a joint meeting held two years ago.
Highlighting the 243 kilometers of shared maritime borders between Iran and Qatar, Goudarzi stated that both countries maintain a satisfactory level of security along their common borders.
