Iranian border guards neutralize over 4,000 terrorist activities, says commander
TEHRAN - Iranian border police commander Brigadier General Ahmad Ali Goudarzi says more than 4,000 instances of terrorist activities were successfully thwarted at the national borders.
Goudarzi made the remarks in a press conference held on Tuesday, revealing significant accomplishments in the ongoing efforts to secure the nation's borders.
“These operations, aimed at enhancing national security, underscore the critical role played by the vigilant border forces,” the commander commented.
During the press conference, Goudarzi detailed the strategic measures taken to fortify border defenses. He highlighted a three-stage implementation of equipment upgrades designed to boost the mobility of special forces units. “Drones and various types of small aircraft have been strategically deployed for border surveillance, effectively preventing the movement of armed criminals and smugglers toward the borders,” he added.
In addressing the ongoing battle against smuggling and terrorism, Goudarzi expressed gratitude to the General Staff of the Armed Forces. He disclosed a substantial financial commitment, stating, "We've allocated 3 billion euros for border closure efforts, particularly in the southeast of the country." This investment underscores the nation's commitment to fortifying its borders against illicit activities.
The commander also reported successful operations against various terrorist groups with intentions to enter the country. “These terror groups have been neutralized or apprehended and are now under intense scrutiny by the border guards,” Goudarzi noted.
The establishment of a marine guards training center was also announced by Goudarzi in this press conference. This move further demonstrates the nation's commitment to enhancing its security measures across multiple fronts.
