TEHRAN- Masoud Pezeshkian, the president of Iran, has extended his congratulations to Emomali Rahmon, the president of Tajikistan, in a message commemorating the anniversary of Tajikistan's independence.

Esteemed President of Tajikistan  

I would like to express my sincere congratulations on the occasion of the anniversary of the independence of the friendly and culturally connected Republic of Tajikistan.  

Enhancing relations and cooperation with regional countries, particularly with the Republic of Tajikistan, is a key focus of the foreign policy of the fourteenth administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran. I am confident that our relationship, founded on mutual respect, will be further strengthened and developed for the benefit of our nations.  

I pray for your health and success, as well as for the ongoing progress and prosperity of the beloved people of the Republic of Tajikistan.”

Tajikistan observes its Independence Day annually on September 9, marking the nation's declaration of independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. 

The festivities associated with Independence Day often feature official ceremonies, parades, concerts, and various cultural activities that highlight the nation's heritage and pride. 

The achievement of independence led to the formation of a new government, the ratification of a new constitution, and the introduction of a new national flag.
