TEHRAN- The Iranian ambassador to Brunei, Mohammad Taghi Rajabi, formally submitted his credentials to the nation's king on Monday.

During a meeting with Sultan Hassan Al Bolkiah, the King of Brunei, the ambassador highlighted Iran's accomplishments across various sectors, including science, research, and emerging technologies. He underscored the importance of enhancing ties with Brunei Darussalam, a fellow Muslim nation.

In response, King Hassan Al Bolkiah acknowledged Iran's significant role in the region and regarded the relationship between the two Islamic countries as vital. He extended his best wishes to the new Iranian ambassador for a successful tenure in Brunei.

Brunei is a small country located on the island of Borneo, nestled between its larger neighbors, Malaysia and Indonesia.

In 1993, Brunei established its embassy in Tehran at the Chargé d’Affaires level, which was elevated to ambassadorial status in 1996. Iran, on the other hand, opened its embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei, in 1994.

The two nations have entered into several agreements aimed at strengthening their collaboration. These agreements encompass memoranda of understanding on economic, commercial, scientific, and cultural cooperation, along with arrangements for visa exemptions for holders of diplomatic and official passports.
