TEHRAN- A local Iran Army commander has praised a strategy aimed at securing the shared border with Afghanistan, emphasizing its role in promoting long-term security along Iran's eastern frontiers.

Brigadier General Sirous Amanollahi, who inspected the border fortification initiative on Sunday, informed that four teams of engineers are currently engaged in this crucial national endeavor.

Amanollahi highlighted the project's significant progress and expressed optimism about its timely completion.

Iran's plan involves constructing a wall that will extend 295 kilometers along the border with Afghanistan. This wall is designed to be four meters high and will feature fencing at the top.

In late July, Brigadier General Kiumars Heidari, the commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Force, indicated that the project is expected to be finalized within three years.

Iran shares a 945-kilometer border with Afghanistan.
