TEHRAN - Arian Salimi of Iran fought to an impressive victory over Great Britain’s Caden Cunningham in the taekwondo men’s +80kg event at Paris 2024 on Saturday. He is going to compete in the next three Olympic Games

The Iranian battled valiantly after being one round down in a cagey but fascinating contest in the men’s heavyweight category. The second round saw Salimi land frequently before the Olympic title was decided in the last seconds of the final round as Salimi scored the decisive blows.

“I am 20 years old and sure I have planned for the next three Olympic Games,” Salimi said as he looked forward to a bright future in the sport. “I am going to start step-by-step [towards] Los Angeles 2028 and then the other Olympics.”
