TEHRAN- The representative of the Palestinian resistance movement to Iran has revealed new details about the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31.

As reported by Tasnim News, Khaled Qaddoumi, the Hamas representative in Iran, has disclosed new details about the assassination of the head of Hamas political bureau and his aide Wasim Abu Shaban, which took place in Tehran early Wednesday morning.

In remarks to the Qatari newspaper Al-Araby Al-Jadeed on Friday, the Hamas representative denied the New York Times' allegations and similar Israeli media reports that a previously smuggled bomb was planted under Haniyeh's bed. He also refuted claims by Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari that there was no other Israeli airstrike that night apart from the one targeting Fuad Shukr in Beirut.

Qaddoumi stated, “Haniyeh arrived in Iran early Tuesday, leading a delegation that included senior Hamas officials Khalil al-Hayya, Mohammad Nasser, and Zaher Jabarin, in addition to Qaddoumi himself. The delegation attended the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at the Iranian parliament later that day.”

“After the inauguration ceremony, the delegation visited the Land of Civilization exhibition at the Milad Tower in Tehran, then he participated in a dinner hosted by President Pezeshkian before returning to his publicly known residence,” Qaddoumi added.

Giving the details, Qaddoumi said the building shook at 01:37 am, as he left the room immediately and saw thick smoke, then he found that Haniyeh had been martyred.

Qaddoumi accused the Zionist regime of planning and executing the attack with the knowledge and consent of the United States. He pointed to a recent visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington, suggesting that American officials were complicit in the assassination.

Martyr Haniyeh and his bodyguard Wasim Abu Shaban were assassinated in Tehran on Wednesday by the Zionist regime. Haniyeh had attended the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday before he was assassinated.
